From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: This journal was founded by Jules Noriac, and the first number appeared, according to Vapereau. on the 20th of September, 1865. At the founder's request Dumas wrote a romance for its pages : "Le Comte de Moret" (see page 414),
It would appear that the periodical got into difficulties, and about the spring of 1866 Dumas took it over on his own account. On the 18th of November of the same year it was re-named "Le Mousquetaire," after that earlier and most famous of all Dumas' journals, of which the original series ceased on February 7th, 1857.
