From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: Sixteen regular four-line stanzas, rhyming alternately. The final lines of the various stanzas are alternately long and short throughout, thus lending variety to the metre.
Apparently its only appearance in print was in the pages of "Le Monte-Cristo," in the number for Thursday, July 2nd, 1857, page 163.
