From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: During 1846, while Dumas was greatly enlivening Saint-Germain-en-Laye, he offered his friends and partisans a dramatic festival. The piece performed was called "Shakespeare et Dumas." Apparently it has never been printed, and little is known of it.
During the famous trial which followed the journey to Spain and Algeria, Dumas stated that the production of this piece was a mere relaxation from his strenuous literary work.
