From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: This further attempt at a form of composition with which Dumas had experienced some success, and which certainly appealed to him, appeared in "Le Monte-Cristo" from April 23rd to August 6th, 1857, but was never completed, breaking off with the disaster of Antony's army in Parthia.
It was never reprinted.
