Saphir, pierre précieuse montée par Alexandre Dumas
collection, pub:1854
From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: A collection of some of the articles by Saphir, the Viennese humorist, re-shaped and enhanced in quality by Dumas. These articles appeared first, with others from the same source, in "Le Mousquetaire" during 1854 and 1855.
Original edition : Paris, Coulon-Pineau, pp. 242, small 8vo., 1854. This is one of the few volumes of the "Bibliothèque du Mousquetaire." The cover reproduces the title-page, but with, in addition. a decorated border, and the word "Saphir" tinted instead of plain. It is not included in either the standard Calmann-Lévy edition or in Le Vasseur ("Alexandre Dumas Illustré"), but two of its articles appear in the "Causeries:" "L'Homme d'Expérience" and "Les Étoiles Commis-Voyageurs."
