From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: A very witty and amusing little skit. It originated with Saphir (see above).
Jupiter sends seven stars to earth to sell Wit, Virtue, Health, Long Life, Honour, Pleasure and Wealth. No one desires their wares, and they merely find themselves perpetually in trouble.
First appeared in "Le Mousquetaire" for February 24th to 28th and March 1st to 3rd, 1854.
In 1854 it was also included in "Saphir" (see above), and again, still in the same year, was used to fill the final volume of "El Salteador" (see page 298).
In 1857, Dufour et Mulat, Paris, included it in their illustrated edition of "Maître Adam le Calabrais."
It now forms part of Vol. 1. of the "Causeries" in the standard Calmann-Lévy edition.
In Le Vasseur's "Alexandre Dumas Illustré" it is in Vol. XXIV.
