Projet d'un nouveau Théâtre Historique; À ses amis connus et inconnus de la France et de l'étranger
divers/miscellaneous, pub:1866
From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: Dumas was finding times hard, and he launched an appeal to his friends and sympathisers everywhere to help him to found a new theatre for the production of the plays they admired. His brochure is thoroughly Dumas in style, witty, friendly, provocative of sympathy. But the days were changed from what they had been twenty years earlier, little success attended this effort, and the theatre never had a chance to materialise.
This request was sent out to his friends, dated from Paris, in 1866.
