From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: A drama in one act, by Bernard Lopez. M. Glinel supplies the following note in his MS. collection of Dumas' verse :—
"There were great difficulties concerning the production of this drama, which were only solved by omitting from the bills the name of Alexandre Dumas, the collaborator of Lopez.
"It will be remarked that in this drama the song in the first scene is precisely that of Dumas' 'Marguerite au Rouet.' "
"Marguerite au Rouet" first appeared in "Le Speronare," Chapter V.—"Messine la Noble," in 1842. (Refer to page 141.)
"La Veillée Allemande" was first performed at the Belleville Theatre on the 21st of November, 1863.
