Historical sketch of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy, 1433-1477.
From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: One of Dumas' lesser historical romances, of the class of "La Comtesse de Salisbury" and "Jehanne la Pucelle," nearly akin to the "Chronique."
It deals with the career and fate of Charles the Bold of Burgundy. Period 1435-1483.
Though it appears at so late a date, it seems probable that it was the work of a considerably earlier period in Dumas' life.
Apparently the original edition was that of Brussels, "Collection Hetzel," 2 vols., 1857.
First French edition : Paris, Michel Lévy Frères, 2 vols., 1859.
It now forms two volumes in the standard Calmann-Lévy edition, and one in that firm's "Musée Littéraire."
In Le Vasseur's "Alexandre Dumas Illustré" it forms part of Vol. VIII.
