From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: One five-line stanza, rhyming a, b, a, a, b.
First written in the album of M. Beauchesne, they were also given by Dumas in his "Mémoires," Chapter CXXX.
Dumas mentions that this gentleman, of whom he speaks highly, had a charming little house in the Bois de Boulogne. Soon after it was built he sent his album to Dumas with a request for a few lines. The verse in question was what was sent to him.
Apparently the lines have not appeared elsewhere.
