Le Pirate; Le fils de la nuit

drame/play, pub:1856

From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed:
According to M. Goizet, at some period during this year Gérard de Nerval and Bernard Lopez collaborated in a play which they called "Le Pirate." It was duly accepted by the Porte Saint Martin. The manager, feeling that it needed a prologue, added one of his own accord. Then he suggested to Lopez the taking of Alexandre Dumas as his collaborator (Gérard de Nerval had died). This was agreed to, but after a slight amount of work upon the piece Dumas, pressed by his editors, was compelled to give it up, and, so the account goes, passed it over to M. Victor Séjour. This latter altered it, re-shaped it, gave it the new title of "Le Fils de la Nuit," despite strong opposition on the part of the original author, and it was thus performed during 1857. The proceeds seem to have been shared between Lopez and Séjour, but apparently only the latter signed.
