From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: Dumas says that twenty years after the death of the great actor his papers, which had been entrusted to a M. Pastoret to prepare for publication, were still awaiting this labour. Then M. Pastoret gave up the idea, and suggested to the comedian's two sons that they should apply to Dumas, as the most suitable man for the undertaking. This met with their approval, and the author of "Christine" issued three volumes, carrying the work on to 1799 only. It seems never to have been completed.
Mr. R. S. Garnett says that Madame Talma, in her "Études sur l'art Théâtral" (Paris, Perret, 1836), gives some anecdotes concerning Talma, but makes no mention of the existence of these papers.
Apparently this work, in which Dumas probably worked alone, has escaped the notice of most bibliographers. Glinel merely notes in his index that these "Mémoires" have been attributed to Dumas by Victor Fournel It is too late for Quérard's "Supercheries Littéraires Dévoilées," and Parran does not apparently know it.
