From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: A prose drama in two acts. Later, without other change, it was divided into three acts.
It was signed by Charles Lafont alone, but admittedly written with Dumas.
First performed at the Gymnase Theatre on the 3rd of June, 1840.
As "Le Marchand de Londres," it was re-staged at the Porte Saint Martin, with no alteration save that the two acts were divided to make three.
Original edition: Paris, Henriot, 1840, 8vo., pp. 24.
It also formed No. 100 of the "Répertoire Dramatique," published by the same firm.
