roman/novel, pub:1839

Translation of "Ultime lettere di Jacopo Ortis" by Ugo Foscolo.

From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed:
A translation of Ugo Foscolo's "Last Letters of Jacopo Ortis," with a preface by P. A. Fiorentino, stating this fact.
It is of interest to note that already Dumas was betraying his strong attraction towards the hope of a united Italy.
Original edition: Paris, Dumont, 1 vol., 8vo., 1839.
Second edition: Paris, Desessarts, 1 vol., 1846.
Now fills one volume in the standard edition of Calmann-Lévy (which also includes "Les Fous du Docteur Miraglia").
In Le Vasseur's "Alexandre Dumas Illustré" it forms part of Vol. XVIII.
