From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: A prose drama in five acts and ten tableaux.
By Dumas and Maquet in collaboration ; it was drawn from the romance of the same title. By some skilful alterations, which in no way affect the dénouement, or vary it from that of the romance, Dumas, as so frequently, constructs what, upon the stage, must have proved a very effective "curtain."
First performed at the Théâtre Historique on 1st of October, 1849.
