From A Bibliography of Alexandre Dumas père by Frank Wild Reed: Another historically interesting, rather than in any sense pedantically accurate, work of the series Dumas devoted to famous characters of past ages.
Its title indicates its period : B.C. 102 to 44.
It first ran serially through the pages of "La Presse," and was later reprinted in "Le Mousquetaire" from August 31st to December 19th, 1855.
Original edition : Paris, Cadot, 7 vols., 8vo., 1857-58. The last volume was completed by the addition of "Gérard le Tueur de Lions." (See page 337.)
It now forms two volumes in the standard Calmann-Lévy edition.
In Le Vasseur's "Alexandre Dumas Illustré" it is in Vol. VIII.
